The portrait section is something that I have just recently had an interest in. A real quick history background, it all began during my 5th year at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I was taking a history of photography class to fullfill a graduation requirement, but also just because I have always wondered about "who made photographic history". I've seen so many great images, as I'm sure you have, and well, I just wanted to learn a little more.
So, one day we got to talking about Diane Arbus and Richard Avedon. Both have always been inspiration to me, and when we talked about them in class I instally became fascinated by people photography. Up to this point in my life, I had never really had an interest in photographing people; just architecture and abstracts. I created a yearbook of sorts for myself, which you can view here or in pdfs below. I've made a few hard copies and they're definitely better than just viewing on a computer. Let me know if you'd like to buy one.
Anyway, I did that project at the end of the year and then once I came back home, I signed up for a photoclass: Portraiture. I found that portraiture can be really rewarding, it gives you chance to reveal to the world what and who the person is in the image. Editorial Portraiture is something I definitely enjoy.
